Question for you aftermarket wheel gurus
I recently put on a set of iForged wheels. They look awesome, but I didn't know that a polished lip was this hard to keep clean. I have three questions.
1. Does anyone know if I take my wheels to a good shop, can they clearcoat the lip, even with the tires on? Would they have to take the wheels apart (3 piece wheel)? The spokes are already clearcoated and junk comes off of them very easily, and I would like this with the lip on my wheels.
2. There is a small area next to one of the valve stems where the clear coat is comming off, is this easily fixed by a good shop, or do they have to redo that whole part of the wheel?
3. Lastly, can any of you recommend a reputable wheel shop?
TIA

Those are some nice wheels...
As far as clearcoating your lip, I really have never heard of that before. I'm sure something could be applied to it to protect, but I'm not sure how that would work.
But as far as the paint coming off, you should deal with iForged directly, or whomever you bought them from. I assume they are new? I'd give them a call and request a brand new wheel. Let them take it up with their manufacturer, or iForged, because expensive rims like that are not supposed to be losing paint.

my understanding is that ...
the wheel will need to be disassembled for the lip to be clearcoated. clearcoating the lip will remove the need for polishing (of course), but will decrease the overall shine. i'd recommend just doing weekly polishing with mother's or a similar metal polish -- it's really not that hard.

BTW...
You dont happen to know the length of the lugs used on the 545R's on Audi's. I know you have them on the M3 but I figured if anyone on here will know its probably you.

sorry, not sure. are you worried yours are the wrong length?
from what i recall, ideally a wheel bolt should take between 7 and 10 turns to fully tighten. how many turns are yours taking?

Just as meem said
on mine i try to wipe em down every few days so i dont have to polish em which takes longer. As for the clearcoat problem, I will talk to Steve@iForged tomorrow and see what he says.
