Replacing the entire intake manifold?!
Here's the latest and greatest...got a call from the Dealer again today and while the tech had the intake off to replace the gaskets, he "mic'd" the intake and found that it was off by .8-.10 ten thousandths and is now requesting that Audi replace the entire intake manifold. He thinks this is the reason the car keeps setting the "sporadic misfires on every cylinder" codes. This sounds far-fetched to me.....

Not at all - if the specs are off by those margins, then you are better off letting his request
take it's course.
The tolerances for this variance are either within factory specs of what the gaskets can absorb or they aren't. If the tech says no, then listen to his advice......

Let him replace it! I know being without the car is not so cool but it's only for a few days...
You gotta love free warranty. Imagine if you no longer had the warranty and they wanted to replace the intake manifold...you'd be glad for them to pay for it. ;-)
