Default Reverse Problem Update (Closure).

Well after 22 days at the dealer, I have my car back tonight. The car sat waiting for a new transmission, but in the meanwhile Audi seems to have figured out the problem and is NOT replacing the transmission but instead has issued a TSB. The dealer was faxed the TSB and the and the "screw" (rebuild kit) was expressed shipped to the dealer (2 days). The install time was 6+ hours, the transmission had to be pulled, so the total was around $950+ and a 4 wheel alignment had to be also done according to the TSB, so that was another $150+.

The actual invoices says "Reverse Detent came apart. Removed Tansmission and replaced all detents".

I had to leave town so I got to drive the car to the airport (20 miles) and all seemed well, much smoother shifting, no time will tell if this "screw" fixed the problem. The dealer put on around 50 miles (32 during service) and another 27 mystery miles (as the invoice claims out milage was 477 and when I picked up car it indicated 500) so the folks that cleanup the car must have had fun, have a e-mail into dealer to explain.

So I have had the car since 10/25 (total of 36 days)of that the car has been in the shop 25 days and I have put on 400 +/- miles while others have put on 100 +/- (42 on car at delivery and 60 miles from service). So do the math the ratios are not too good here. This is the most problems I have had in 25 years of owning Audis.

Default Well at least your problem was resolved...

Good luck trying to get info on the potential joyriding that someone did with your car while it was being serviced. This isn't the first hint or story we've heard about this on the forum and it's simply despicable.

Default Funny story >>>

Back when I was in high school one of my friends had dropped his Chevy off at the dealer in the same town we live in. Well we're at lunch one day and his car pulls up to Subway with a whole bunch of service guys in it. We're like WTF? I don't know if this is typical for guys at the dealer to use cars in on service as personal vehicles, but it wouldn't suprise me. That's why I hate bringing my car into the dealer.

Default Glad to hear you've got it back

Hope all goes well from now on. Love mine still, just gets better and better now I can use all the rev band. I'm still trying to get used to the 1st to 2nd gear change, sometimes if I'm accelerating hard, the engine seems to bog slightly if I don't get the revs right.

Did you get any compensation or freebies out of them for all the hassle and lack of car?

Why did they have to do the alignment? Does pulling the transmission mess up the alignment?

Matt
