I always liked the old M5, and now the price of an 02 or 03 would be well below the 70 or so grand for the RS4, maybe 50k for a certefied low mileage one. I know they don't match in tearms of rear/all wheel drive etc., but performance and hp is close, and they are both sedans. Would the RS4 be the superior car? Thoughts?

I had a 2003 M5 until it was totalled this past January. Now I drive a 2005 S4. The S4 seems to handle marginally better than the M5 due to M5's slightly softer suspension. The S4 motor has good low and mid range but the top end cannot compare to the M5. The RS4 should handle and brake better than the M5. The higher revving motor should make the RS4 faster than the M5 but only time will tell.
