theoretically it should be a bit lighter and thus quicker than the sedan, right?

convertibles are ususally a couple hundred pounds heavier (structural reinforcement)

Default You are correct!
Convertables are alot heavier because there has to be supports for a roll over in case the top is down as well as many other things. Now a coupe would be faster because it would have less weight.
