Take it to a body shop...
Apparently someone tried to remove the fin like you would when debadging the rear. When you heat up the glue, you're also heating up the roof which is easy to warp (as it happend to the owner). Then, once you pry it off, you're still left with a big hole in the roof (where the wires go).
It's not a pretty sight. It will require the removal, patching the hole, sanding, priming, and painting. Therefore, it will cost $$$ to get it done right.
Live with the fin and become a Land Shark...
*knock* *knock* *knock*...
"Candygram!" =)

Are you stupid....you will probably do more harm then good....
I looked into a part replacement with the Std. Black antena and just by the way you have to remove the existing and install the new it will be way to costly. Would be cheaper to buy in Canada an bring it back.

Stupidity is in the eye of the beholder....
I would think of myself as studpid if i was attempting something like that on a 50k+ car. If you have an Avant I think you got aff easy, it doesnt look bad at all on them. Plus as other did say applying that much heat to that area would undoubly cause some sort of damage to the panel if you are not careful enough. IMHO attempting something like that is just asking for trouble. Buying a new roof panel might be cheaper now that I think of it.

Price of the car and the cost to remove the fin really have no bearing...
All he asked was could it be done, which I don't think is a stupid question or a stupid idea. If I purchased a car that did everything I wanted but had one cosmetic flaw, I'd seek to remedy it, wouldn't you?

Nope because I dont think it is a cosmetic flaw....
it a technical feature in my mind. I overly think it is a bad idea to attempt this. Working in engineering I decided to look into redesigning it or just designing a gasget to help the Canadian antenna fit over the fins foot print and lets say my design wont work from what I can see. If a replacement roof panel isnt per cut with the hole that is probably the best way to remedy the problem. But thats at least 2K+ do have it done right. Even if I didnt like it, wouldnt be worth it, just wait they will eventually have a delete option if you dont want sat, or nav, or onstar, or phone prep.
