Some thoughts after i put on my stock avuses with Winter M3's...Advice Needed.
The only thing that comes to mind right now is damn...the ride is so much better with the 18"s....A lot of the bumps a cushioned.
Steering is also is more responsive and feels ligter. It felt like it was a new car. I"m sure the summer tires were like bricks already. but still..Even in the summer..I just wasnt able to push the car around the corners as i used to with 18"s. I had a new smile on my face today.
Oh yes and the M3's are very quiet....A++++
SO now i'm thinking of switching back to 18's next summer. THis is my everyday driver and it just makes more sense. I'm thinking of 18" BBS RGR's.
Does anyone have any input on this?
Has anyone else done this switch?

Just another reason why I favor 18" wheels
I went from 18 to 19's on my Treg and they don't handle near as well. They look great, but you pay for it in function and ride quality.

I think some of this may be in your head. Granted, 18's might have a TINY bit more cushioned ride...
but not that much. Also, a light set of 19's vs. the very heavy Avus' and I'd give the handling advantage to the 19's. Any other differences would be unnoticeable, quite frankly. The ride quality is the only thing that would possibly be perceptiblely different.

My second winter with M3's and they are a 'silky smooth riding' tire. What pressures you run?

19s look better but 18s ahndle better. There is a reason why no race program runs 19s. AS for the
tires, the M3s had GIANT tread which in effect seems to add more sidewall. After a week and 3 tanks of gas (one for a road rally) on the M3s, I found they are a softer ride than the contis. I also find they dont squeal but I car break the rear end out gradually and as it breaks it is almost progressive. IF I mash the throttle in a turn it grabs progressively too. The contis wquealed, held their ground, then broke free suddenly and gripped again harshly after I mashed the throttle. That's my observation.
