I was in Walmart the other day and checking out their oil filter section. I've noticed that they're carrying Ford Motorcraft filters a lot lately, which is cool- they're just rebadged Purolator PureOne's, which are one of the highest quality filters money can buy save maybe a K&N Oil filter. By highest quality I mean largest internal filtering surface area, highest efficiency at single-pass filtration, quality silicone drainback parts, no cardboard endcap bs, etc. Not just "My buddys used them all his life and he knows best so I use these" .. real studys have been done that just bash the heck out of FRAM garbage.

So anyways... I see this big filter. It's like $19 .. and I think to myself holy cow, that's an expensive filter for a ford.

So I open it up...

And what do I see? A german made long paper insert. That looks JUST LIKE OURS. I'm like WTF??? This aint no motorcraft.

So... someone needs to compare these. I'm going to buy a spare oil filter soon and bring it to walmart and compare.

It even came with new O rings and crush washers and everything !!

First I find out that the 2004 V8 Phaeton has the same filters as ours. Score $10 off the Audi price at the VW dealer.

Now I find that perhaps Walmart carrys our filters. Score $4 more off the price AND add the convenience of buying the parts needed on a sunday evening. :P
