Default Stratmosphere short shifter install help needed!

I cannot seem to get it adjusted to be able to engage reverse. I know it says to adjust the bottom bolt, but does anyone have a good guideline if the bolt works best in the middle, towards the front, or towards the back.
TIA!

Make sure the shifter tilts slightly to the pass side in neutral. Make sure you aren't moving the assembly when tightening the final bolt. As far as fore/aft I would start in the middle. I've seen some even work smooth with the box slid way back from the dash, but I don't do it that way myself. Call if you need help. 1-866-533-1777. -Pete, Stratmosphere

Default when tightening the lower bolt....

you have to be mindful of the shifter position. If its all the way to the left vs the right you will have certain gears you can engage and others you cannot. From what I remember you kinda want it just right of center when you are tightening it. Once you have proper placement reverse should be easy. It takes a while to get it perfect.

Default Just got it Pete. Thanks!

It would be a good idea to state this in the instructions. it says in the instructions to "adjust the shift lever so that it is straight up and down from side to side". When it should actually say to lean the shifter slightly away from the driver in order to align properly. After I adjusted it with a little lean it is now real smooth going into all gears.
Thanks again!

P.S. My kit did not have the zip tie. No big deal because I have a ton of those things, but more FYI.

Default I can't believe I didn't install this sooner. It rocks......

The car is so much easier to transition between gears with the reduced throw. I love the way it feels. For anyone debating on the short shifter, do it now. You will love it!

Default I knew it was there and reviewed your instructions before I posted here.

Great write up though. You should add the part about leaning the shifter slightly towards the passenger seat.

Default Hmm, thought I had it in there? I'll have to revise and let DonP know.

Thanks.

Default I looked at your DIY again and it says you added a right lean to.....

ease the gear shifts when you really HAVE TO lign it up towards the right in order to engage all gears, especially reverse. I tried the grease on the spacers and they kept falling off, so I went back to using super glue gel which worked really well. I also followed Strats instructions on realeasing the circlip to drop the shifter down to put the bottom bolt in and it was sooo much easier for me. Good job on the write up!
