Test drove an '06 Porsche C2...
for new summer wheels.
Overall not impressed, I figured it would have exilarating accelleration, but was disappointed.
I guess it shows that our S4s are not too shabby....
I will have to try the C2S and the Cayman and see if they would be worth driving in the summer.
Anybody have a different Porsche experience?

Re: Test drove an '06 Porsche C2...
I have a '05 C2S and yes the initial acceleration is quite impressive. Handling between the C2 and S is pretty close. But you really can't compare either car with the S4. Porsche...there is no substitute.

Drove a 997 Carrera S... I was very impressed.
It's not about the acceleration - it's the handling. My housemate has a B6 S4 that I drive sometimes, and I definitely prefer the 997 C2S over the S4.

The 997 is an everyday supercar no doubt--but does it work as a daily driver?
This is what I'm grappling with. Very recently considered buying slightly used (3K miles) 05 C2S available from the stealer at $77K (adaptive seats/paint/not much else). Great test drive, hit 100mph before I knew it. Handling characteristics far exceeded the S4's performance envelope.
I took a pass because I didn't think it would work for me as a daily driver with 20 mile rt city/highway commute. If I was in a position to own the Porsche as a weekend/track car it would be a no brainer.
The experience made me appreciate that the 04 S4 is a more balanced vehicle...offering strong engine performance and respectable handling in a cool package that is easy/fun to live with in all driving conditions.
The 07 RS4 is still at the top of the list for my late Summer purchase but still considering others including the Cayman S, which I test drove about a month ago and a leftover M3. Creeping up on my list is sticking with the 04 S4 as I strongly believe it is a great all around vehicle.

Love my C4S

Very different car from the S4 - feels much less heavy and tracks on rails. The S4 handled great too, but nothing like this. Again, the Audi's a wonderful sports sedan, the P-car is a true sportscar.
