Default Thirsty New Avant 6-spd: Barely 10 mpg in the city. What's up with that?

With almost 2K on the clock, computer still won't show over 10 mpg in the city. Filing up every 150 miles. Got 18 mpg driving my '95 M3 (3.0 liter six) in the city. Any others with holes in their tanks?

Default Your math doesn't seem right................

"300 miles a week.

bout 150-180 per tank,

per tank fill up at 2 bucks + per gallon,

all boils down to about 30 bucks a tank"

Which would be, according to 150-180 miles per tank and 300 miles a week, approx $60 every week

I fill up about twice a week now, but I don't drive 300 miles a week.

Default I'm averaging 16.5 MPG, aroud town, during cold weather which I know from experience

with 20 years of Audis is about a 10% factor.

But who cares, I can't get the grin off my face after 5000 miles.

Default Give it some more time

New Audis are famous for being tight. My 6-spd Avant has almost 9K miles, and I'm not sure it's fully broken in yet. This is my 9th Quattro since 1986, and every single one seemed to take about 10K miles to completely break in.

I started out with the same horrendous mileage you're seeing, and now seem to be around 13 to 14 mpg around town. On a recent freeway trip, at 80+, I got a little over 20 mpg. When it was new, the same trip was about 16 mpg. So have a little faith, it WILL still improve. But it will never get great mileage, that's just not what the car is about.
