For those of you who have used ticket assassin or sent in a written declaration for speeding...
So I was cruising through Nor Cal a few months ago and got clocked going 80 on a 55.
Here's the situation.
It was 9am. Very foggy. Visability less then 50 yards.
The cop was driving towards me on a 2 lane roads.
I asked him to show me the radar which he did but he could not provide info about the last time the radar was calibrated.
No one has been able to expalin to me how a car moving in the opposite direction of me could really RADAR me and get a correct clock.
To be honest I don't think I was going 80. It was pretty damn foggy and I never have driven this road before.
ANYWAYS....the question is:
Has anyone experinced anything similar to this. What argument did you use? Maybe you still have what you sent in to the Judge saved and would love to send it to me?
Thanks in Advance.
For those of you who live up there it was on the 132 in stan. county.

Your best bet is for the cop not to care enough to write a letter in as well.
I've gotten off 3 tickets while owning the S4 because of this. Carpool, a couple of speeding.
However, in one county up here (contra costa), they have the cop show up in court (he gets paid to show in court, not to write a letter on his own time) and to fight against your letter.
Point out facts about your case that would warrant a dismissal. If the cop writes as well, you will probably lose. You can then request a trial de novo and go to court.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard... whatever happened to relative velocity??? ...
You can literally "engineer" yourself out of this one. You were both probably doing 40 mph (x2 = 80 mph). Stupid cop should be fired for not understanding such a thing.

I think most, if not all, police radar devices are designed for use in motion.

Perhaps... but that might be when your following.. i.e. relative velocity is positive, not negative
Honestly, I don't know how they work or how the radars manage such a feat.... what I do know is that there's chance it couldn't do that... hence his oncoming speed would be detected as higher

Yes, radar can be used while in motion...
This isn't exactly new technology... has been able to do so for years. Most units use a split signal; one to measure his speed, one to measure yours. It does the math on the fly.
LIDAR, or laser, cannot be used unless stationary.

That actually takes a lot.. and the very fact that your traveling at an angle....
relative to his absolute Zero-o'clock makes you go about 1 mph more. You'd need to hire an expert = $$$$$

Bottom line here is that speeding laws/regs are outdated... automotive technology...
hop-skipped-jumped over them in the late 80s/early 90s. They should spend more money on road technology and driver classification.
