Thoughts on the claim that a chipped 2.0T could "keep up" and/or "walk" an S4...
I came across this post on AZ, and was curious what you all thought (and although I am a new owner of a B7 S4, I posted here b/c there would be more feedback).
Basically, the claim is a 2.0T (FSI) on the 93 program can "keep up" with a B6S4, and even "walk it a little," which means the 100 program will be faster than the B6/B7.
As a previous B5S4 owner, I know a chipped B5 could keep up with a B6/B7, but only up to a certain point, where I presume, the bigger engine just out muscles the 2.7 and the little turbos. Of course, the 2.0t has approximately 50 hp and 50 lbs of torque less, with less displacement and only 1 turbo.
What do you guys think? I am a bit skeptical. Does/would the FSI make the newer models that more potent and tuneable? It is a bit disconcerting given only a chip is purportedly making that much power, are we going to just get blown away when exhaust/dps, etc. are added?

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=57225&perpage=3 0&pagenumber=1</a

im VERY skeptical, it would take more than a chip. Talk to jetjockey, his A4 is modded to
the tilt. Its not impossible at all, I know its different but stock for stock the B5S4 is quite a bit slower than the B6 but a well modded B5 will walk a B6.

personally I think hes drunk but thats just my two cents...I just think thats a bold statement....
but then again Ive never driven or raced a chipped 2.OT FSI so for all I know im the drunk one lol...

I agree and I also have never driven a chipped A4...
I was just speculating based on my B5 and the numbers, although a 2.0T (sedan/quattro/mt) is 300 lbs lighter than a B6/B7 S4 (sedan/mt). As for hp/tq, it goes like this for the A4/S4 respectively (and based on the 2005.5 brochure): 200/207 to 340/302). I may be a drunk 1 too in the end.

I raced and beat from a roll several times an APR stage 3 frontrak... less wieght and it had drag
radials.. the 400+ HP 1.8t quattro ran a 13.00 even today... thats with a big *** garret fmic etc...

It has created a bit of a stir (over there at least), but...
if it truly is mostly puffing (or straight bs), I think it is a dumb move on their part and some credibility will be lost, especially if that guy is a GM.

A well running chipped B5 should beat a stock B6 at about any speed...
and the chipped A3 will keep up with if not beat a B6/B7 from a roll.
Off the line, the S4 will win because an A3 can't get traction.
