Thoughts on recent RNS-E install...

just an anecdote - not even sure the brand of my antennae...
but i start out putting in my destination info in my manhattan garage (union square area) - and i always have 5 or 6 satellites before i see clear skies. I'm sure that the sharkfin would be even better, but the under-dash works great given how easy the install was. (two screws, some sticky tape and a pair of zip-ties.) I was paying very very close attention to not break or scratch anything and it still took less than 30 min..

If the headlights cause you to lose signal you could try a few things
Like shielding the back of the RNS-E with foil, disconnecting one headlight and then the other to see if you can isolate the problem, moving the current antenna to another location, etc. If you turn the lights on during the day, so you lose signal? There should really be no difference in how you see the sats at night versus the day, unless there is some big difference in the atmopshere are night where you're located.
Seems like an odd problem. I think the antenna cable is a coaxial cable, so that is shielded and should not be prone to noise.
