wild thought re engine becoming stronger over time...
my car is currently at 3,700 miles and the engine seemed stronger than at 1,000 miles. I know that several other members here also reported more power at the 1,000 then 3,000 then 5,000 miles thresholds.
So I've been thinking maybe it is not just the hardware in the engine that becomes looser but something in the software is also programmed to function differently at the beginning of the engine life?
just a wild thought, what do you guys think?

As the rings seat (Takes 5k miles, usually) and you build up carbon deposits, things just work bette
r. Audi builds great engines as far as longevity goes...at least they used to and it looks like they're going back to it. Take care of it and it will see 300k.

as an engine breaks in it begins to gain power..... and....
with the way engines are built no a days it can take 10 of thousands of miles for an engine to be completly broken in per say. Although yes the piston rings will be seated etc.... there is still a lot going on in that engine that just takes time to get all worked out. Thinks are still expanding etc... While the DBW software might learn you better and seem faster, its the ever breaking in engine that your driving thats opening up slowly.
