Default Windshiedl replacement

After an encounter with a couple big rocks the windshield needs replacement. I've gotten quotes from $400 to over $550, with one place asking if I had sat radio, which I do, Sirius. What difference would that make? The shark fin is the antenna. I'm tempted to go for the cheaper quote but want everything to work properly. This is on my company car, an ultrasport A4, but the S4 windshield has a small chip which may need replacement someday as well...

Default First of all it should be covered undre your comprehensive insurance. BUT

If you have a $500 deductable, you're out of luck. Comprehensive claims are noted rated and WILL NOT increase your premium. Secondly the windshield will have NOTHING to do with SAT radio. Word of advice. Get an American made(preferrably a PPG)windshield. It is harder and more chip resistant than the Audi whindshield which is soft and has more distortion and prone to pitting. You will be happier with it .

Default American better than OEM

I wondered about AMerican vs OEM- the OEM one sure is prone to small chips compared to other cars I've had. It's a leased company car with one more year on the lease so cheaper is better!

Had mine replaced 3 days ago. They used OEM. Was $430. I have a $50 deductible.

Default Maybe, but I would absolutely replace with OEM...

did that with my B5 and had dealer install - I think we make way too much of the German windshields being so "soft." The dealer also ensured that the cowling fit perfectly (they replaced it under warrantee due to 'warping'). Plus, many of us (me included) just like to have Audi parts replaced with genuine Audi parts.
