2010 rough idle?

2010 rough idle?
I am considering getting back into the Audi fold, I sold my 2000 S4 in 2006 and have had a couple of different cars in the mean time. I test drove a 2010 CPO with the manual transmission and liked it but it was disappointing that it had a rough idle. Of course the salesman said that was normal with manual transmissions but I don't believe it. It was obvious not only in the steering wheel but through the seat as well. Is this normal?

Mine has the exact same vibrations you describe, but it was smooth up to maybe 15K miles. My 2000 S4 also was smooth when I first got it and later vibrated as the miles piled on. However on the B5 I was able to tweak the idle speed up with Lemmiwinks to smooth it out. The B8 smooths out if you give it a little gas to idle higher, but I haven't found anyone that knows how to adjust the idle speed.

Normal, and who cares what the idle is like if it run and accelerates smoothly. What I have noticed is that the idle rpms vary. IF the car engine management systems decides to have the car idles at 600 rpms or so, the idle does feel rough. But if it happens to idle at 750 rpms or above, the idle smooths out. Not sure why there is variation, but it happens. Doesn't mean there is anything wrong with the engine. Just a glitch in the idle setting. Never noticed it in the seat or steering wheel though. Perhaps what you are noticing is more severe than what I have experienced on my 2010 6mt. What I would try is to check the idle rpms and if they are lower than 750 rpms use the accelerator to gently increase to around 750 rpms, which might not be easy to increase by that small if an increment. If the idle smooths out at 750 rpms, you should be fine. If not, I might have concern. Also, you don't know what kind of gas the previous owner has used. Sometimes a fuel injector/fuel system cleaner will be helpful. But you don't want to take a chance
