Default 2010 S4 Trunk difficult to close

Before I ask the dealer to look at it I thought I'd ask if you guys have the same "issue".

The trunk on my 2010 S4 is very tricky. It seems to close fine, but unless you really slam it, I occasionally get the trunk is open signal inside the car. If this was a civic, I wouldn't bring it up.

Does anyone else notice abnormally hard force required to get the trunk open sensor to think the trunk is closed? Should I let the service rep know when I bring it in for 5000 mile service?

If I try and close it by pushing down on the left side it won't close. You must shut it from the middle. I will have mine checked at the 25k service.

you are not supposed to close it by pushing on the trunk at all. there is a small handle located on the inside of the trunk lid that you grab and pull down to close the trunk. found a quick pic from a B5: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...e/738a6258.jpg

anyway, at the OP, it sounds like a sensor issue.

Having the same issue myself. Unless I slam it, the trunk open indicator comes on, even though tugging on the trunk tells me it is closed. Plan on having them check it out at the 5k service.

Seems kind of dangerous for your hand.

Not really! I've been using that handle to close my trunk.

It is pretty simple...you just give it a yank and let go, the trunk closes on its own after the initial pull.

Yup I do this too, keeps oils from your skin off the trunk (which makes dust and dirt stick to the oils).
