2010 S4 value
Hi guys,
I was at the dealer this afternoon to see the 2012 S4.
while I was there, the sales rep. also told me there is 2010 S4 coming and it is for sale. However, the MSRP is really high on the 2010. it didn't make sense to pick up 2010 at all. However, if they are willing to reduce the price, what will be a good price to shot for?
2010 P+
6MT
Black/Black
CARBON FIBER DECORATIVE INLAYS
BANG & OLUFSEN
SILK NAPPA LEATHER SEATS
SPORTS REAR DIFFERENTIAL PKG
NAVIGATION WITH CAMERA
8000 miles
listed price $49,996
really?? the 2012 for the same spec can be have for $51,000
$40,000 unreasonable offer?
any comment will help.
thanks

IMO, $40K is too low; especially if it is a certified. The crazy pricing is one of the reasons that I ended up with a new 2011 versus a used 2010 when I was looking. If you proceed, make sure that the water pump was replaced.

thank you for the comment,
it was my though too, when the sales told me about the 2010 at $49996, I was like.....why? 2012 is $51000? why do I want to go for 2010? it is great that it is CPO, but I have to finance and can't lease it.
if 2010 can be at $40,000, then it will be a difficult decision.
finance 60month for $730 $5000 down or lease 2012 36months for $700 with 3500 down....
I will have to see what dealer willing to sale the 2010 tomorrow~

This is a timing issue. Imo, the 2010s will rapidly depreciate back to "normal" some time this fall... or at least that is my hope so I can stick to my budget ($40K) when *I* get one this fall. There happens to be a shortage of cars this summer because of the earthquake in Japan.
So, if my theory is right, you should get the 2012 now or wait a few months (if you can).
By the way, what would you guys pay for a loaded, Prestige 2010 with 60K miles on it? Yes, there is one in my area and I keep trying to justify a price (any price) and can't.

Best of luck with that. I scoured the used 2010 market for 6 months and either didn't find what I wanted or when I came close, the pricing was too high versus new. I ultimately found a new dealer that was aggressively discounting and had exactly what I wanted........so I paid a few $$$ more. IMO, you'll be hard pressed to find a 2010 for $40K unless it either has few options or a lot of miles.

I end up pick up the 2012 S4 last week.
the dealer won't lower the price on the 2010 S4,
thus, I just lease the 2012 instead,
it was a luck that the 2012 S4 is available at this dealer~
