2012 s4 rpm problems? anyone?
This is causing excess back pressure in the air intake valve.
Ask your dealer to perform the "exhaust pipe grease fitting purge" service. It will be covered under warranty.
Then your engine RPM will stop increasing when you press the accelerator.

If you have the S-tronic, note that when you are just starting off, it's normal for the clutch to slip some and you may be able to work the rpm's up and down noticeably - but this should not persist for more than a few seconds. Once you are at cruising speed, the rpm's should not change more than the car's speed does, as long as the transmission is staying in the same gear; there shouldn't be any "slip" such as you get with a torque converter.
