Adding rear-view camera
I really wanted the rear-view camera option, but they didn't have a car in the lot that had this option at the time of purchase. How difficult would it be to add an OEM camera and tie it in to the MMI?

Agreed. If it was simple to bypass buying the side-assist, or nav, or whatever it is these days you need to get the camera, then I think more people would be taking that route.

if you're like me, you have the car, but want the camera. (agree with everyone that you should order the drive assist package if you get the premium trim because that's the only way to get it... still the most absurdly stupid package bundles I've ever run across... anyway....)
But, i got the car without the camera because of my doorstop of a SA, and I want it for parking issues in New York and for safety reasons with my twins.
My useless sales agent, then told me there WAS no camera that tied into the MMI. He was, again wrong. I'll be getting my camera in a couple of weeks. It ties into MMI and it's $1100.00 for the install (and that's down from 1400 where it is usually...) .Way too expensive and I wouldn't do it if I didn't plan on keeping the car for a few years. But I'm in this deep and I want the car the way I want it and they're cutting me a great deal on the radar/laser installation done at the same time.
But, i got the car without the camera because of my doorstop of a SA, and I want it for parking issues in New York and for safety reasons with my twins.

check another dealer, there IS a way to put a backup camera in through the MMI.
The other option was to put an "audio only" system in... closer you get the faster it beeps. that's 600 installed at my dealer.

You can add that as well. Pretty much all those components are modular and can be easily added. You'll also need access to a vag-com to let the car's brain know its there.
