I just bought a 2010 S4 from Florida, where there are no front license plate requirements, but I need to install one in Illinois.

A lot of people seem to be going the other way--getting the license plate filler. Does anyone have a front license plate bracket they would like to sell? I would be looking for a black one.

Well, it turns out I have a license plate holder from the seller. One less thing to buy!

Unless you park on the street in Chicago frequently or live downtown, you can probably get away without a front plate on your car.

I live in the NW burbs and I don't have a plate on the front of my S4 and haven't had it on the front of any car I have owned for 10+ years now. I have never been ticked specifically for not having a plate, but did have an officer pull me over for speeding and said he would instead give me a ticket for no front plate (a $75.00 non-moving violation in many of the burbs). That worked out to my advantage!

That's interesting. I've read about Chicago cops taking a hard line on the issue (and I do live in the city). At any rate, I don't really mind having a plate on the front.

Yeah, that's why I asked if you live in the city or park on the streets in the city. I have also heard from friends in the city that the meter maids will give tickets for cars parked on the street without front plates. I don't see any of that out here in the suburbs.
