DIY - B8 S4 Oil Change
#41
First weekend with the car (still have car AND still have wife just no photos yet-worried that car might break camera).Boy does this DIY make it easy to change the oil-draining right now BUT my drain plug seems to be a 40torx, not the elusive 35. A running change?
Again, many thanks for the how-to.I really appreciate how much it helps.

Anyone know if there's room for a Fumoto Valve under the car to replace the drain plug? It looks like there probably is from vwong's pictures?

I confirm that 6mm hex fits the drain plug. The drain plug opening looks like very much like torx shape though. I already bought T35 and it was too small. Then went to home depot twice and tried T40, T45 and almost stripped the plug. Finally tried 6mm hex and it fit perfect. Overall the process is pretty easy once having the tools sorted out. Thanks for the writeup.
After the oil change, I reset the oil change interval in mmi screen from next 10k miles/365 days. The service interval still stays the same though. I searched around and could not find a way to reset it. Does it have to be done through vag com cable or through dealers?

Thanks all for the info. I will wait a few more months to get VCDS. $350 price seems a bit steep but I guess I dont have other choices. Going to dealer will cost more time than what can I save by changing oil myself.

VCDS can be used for your brake jobs, logging, troubleshooting, plus your oil changes. I originally got it for changing settings, but ended up using it for a lot more. Its great for keeping the dealer honest
