Laser "Shifter"
Has anyone had a laser "shifter" such as the Escort ZR4 installed in their S4? If so, how were the laser head units installed in the car, and importantly, does it work as advertised?
Thanks

It's a jammer
Receives signal from police laser gun and transmits jamming signal. Police cannot get return lock. It is legal except Virginia. Requires two sensor/transmitters mounted in front, likely in grill. Wondering if an S4 installation requires cutting or something drastic. Look at Escort ZR4 or Blinder.

It "jams" police radar significantly reducing the distance from which their laser guns can read speed.
The escort jammer is known to be pretty weak. From what I've read; laser interceptor is the best and the Blinder M27/M47 is close behind.
Read up on it for yourself at the radardetector.net forums.

Worth reading the reviews on the "laser interceptor" I wonder if other units have the same issues;

Seems that at $500-$1000 for one of these things you would really be better off paying for a traffic attorney if you got a speeding ticket.
Or, better yet, use some brains about when and where to speed. I have little sympathy for all the whack jobs in my neighborhood who think it's okay to drive 40 mph through a 15mph elementary school zone.

"Laser Jammers and Radar Jammers are illegal in the states of Nebraska, Minnesota, Utah, California, Oklahoma, Virginia, Colorado, Illinois and Washington DC."

I can't vouch for the site itself, but it looks legit and was the top google hit when I searched for it.
I also remember reading in the forums that laser jammers are illegal in California.

Does it work? The thing rings when its supposed to but I haven't had an occasion to find out that it doesn't scramble the signal. I do know that I haven't been pulled over the 10 - 15 times that I was doing 12 - 15 MPH over the speed limit. I'm a lead foot on the highway but haven't been nailed by laser going at speed that would catch a ticket for sure.
