Default Launch Control OMG

OK, so I finally tried launch control last night. All the vids I had seen on it were with cars with Audi Drive Select, which I don't have, so I was curious to see if it would work on my 2011 PP with sport rear dif. I'm happy to report it does.

Simply pull up to a light, foot on brake, switch the rear dif to dynamic, traction control off, shift to manual, WOT, RPMs hold, then release break and fly.

I was pretty shocked by the acceleration, I actually had a pain in my neck. Awesome. I love this car!

it's kinda scary the first time. it feels like you just got rear-ended.

make sure your head is all the way back on the head rest and hang on.

Does it work on Dynamic mode for the S-tronic too not just manual mode? I wonder if launch control is not good for the transmission. How is it different from revving the ending in neutral and banging the transmission into D for autos?

The engine won't allow you to rev past about 3K in "N" but using LC, the engine and DSG know what you are asking it to do and responds accordingly.

Can you do this from every take-off all day long and espect no less wear and tear? Certainly not.

Will this grenade your transmission doing a few times a year? Likely won't hurt it at all aside from a little more than normal wear on the clutch packs.

So the LC feature works whether the transmission is in the Dynamic mode or the manual mode?

From what I have heard, I have a 2010, so I can't confirm or deny.

You're confusing the modes. Dynamic, Auto or Comfort are all independent of auto or manual mode. For example, you could have "comfort manual" or "auto dynamic".

For my car, all that matters for LC to work is for the car's traction control to be off, and dynamic mode on. Auto or manual doesn't make a difference (for my car). I've seen reports from some people saying they need to be in dynamic mode and also manual mode for LC to work.

On my 2011 DSG w/o ADS/RSD, I just need to have traction control off and the gear shifter in "S" (it might work in "M" but haven't tried).
