Avant only, and using the RS5 4.2 V8... Im hoping they scrap the motor idea or add a supercharger or TT V8setup to this car. I dont care if its avant only.

They need to step up though. Im sure just first year run will be NA 4.2 V8 then they will realize mercedes and BMW are outselling them by a longshot. Esecially with BMW having the offering of the 550i with the X (AWD) package and M package available. I would prob buy the 550XI M-package over the RS4 solely cause of the motor.

Not that upset about the 4.2 V8, but Avant-only is just bad form by Audi. What a horrible choice . . .

After reading that article it makes me wonder why the S4 doesn't offer a avant choice. Some on the boards want an avant. This will be their chance but they are going to have to pay up.

Can't wait to read about the first comparison between a tuned B8 S4 sedan and the B8 RS4 avant. The 4.2 will sound awesome but I would be surprised if it beats tuned versions of our cars by much.

^^^it does...but they don't sell for ****. Audi is scrapping the A4 Avant too next year I believe.

Americans don't buy Avants...they buy SUVs. So we'll get the Q3, Q5, Q7, and lose the A4 Avant, A6 Avant (and the S variants of course). BMW is leaning that same way with the hideous X1 to go with the X3 and X5. The X1 looks like a 335t on stilts...just awful. But Americans can't get enough of them so the 335 touring will probably be scrapped before too long.

In 2007-2008 model years, Audi sold something like 600 S4 Avants. The market spoke loudly and clearly in America. 'We don't want them'.

I like the. It's a shame, but that's just business.
