I tested on a 64-bit OS too so that shouldn't be it (64-bit Windows usually runs both 32- and 64-bit applications). The next thing I would check is that your download is not getting corrupted or anything.

I just re-downloaded the file and now tries installing on my notebook (also Win7 64-bit) and it installed fine again. The file I downloaded was called VCDS-Release-9081-Installer.exe and it was exactly 5,869,912 bytes long. Try downloading it and saving it to your hard drive first and check the file size.

Something else you might want to try is download the file using a different browser (if you use IE, try with FireFox, or vice-versa), just to make sure. FWIW, I'm using IE8 that came with Win7.

HTH.

It should run fine, Win7 is the same overall kernel as Vista. Right click the installer file and choose "properties" then there is a compatability tab. Click on that and the top area of that tab has a check box to enable compatability mode - check that and choose "Vista" from the drop down, then hit OK to close that window. It should install fine then, though you might have to also right click and choose "run as administrator" for the first install also.

Re-downloaded again (3rd or 4th time?) and the install worked this time. Download must have gotten corrupted somehow.

Cool, I'm glad it worked.

Daytime running lights no longer "wink" when turning so one down. Tried the remote windows down but didn't seem to work; will have to look at it again. Interface was easier to use than expected, which was a nice surprise. Thanks to everybody for the input.

You also have to enable the windows and roof in the MMI under Car -> setup -> windows. This has to be enabled for the mod to work as well - I bet it took ok.

Doh! Thanks, that did it. Windows work, wink is gone, and dvd player's working too. Now to figure out the passenger mirror tilt during backing and I'm done (for now). VC doesn't want to recognize module 52 so I'm going to poke around a bit for posts on this topic. Thanks to everyone for being so helpful!
