BTW, here's a great tool for comparing offset, rim size, and tire size between two tire/wheel options.

Gorgeous wheels, but they stick out 0.5" more than stock. Not so great for winter wheels as you get more road grime spray up the sides of the car. Anyone concerned about the same?
I had the same concerns, and worked them out in the thread below. I thought I wanted the 45mm offset as they were closer to the stock 19 setup, but moved in slightly (this could cause brake rubbing issues).

The 18x8.5 et35 rims stick out 8mm (0.31") further than the stock 19.8.5 rims, however I am running tires that are 245mm wide vs 255mm wide. That may result in slightly less than 8mm further out for the tires. There is tons of room with these rims and 245/40R18 tires, I turned the wheel every which way and nothing even comes close to rubbing. If you dropped an inch there could start to be an issue in extreme situations.

As adbender said in the reply to my earlier thread several months ago, if you are going to chuck slush all over the side of the car, I don't think the additional 8mm is going to be the go or no-go. I suck at picture taking compared to most of you guys but here is a side by side comparison.

Just installed my new winter wheels and tires too. VMR V708 18x8.5 ET38, bored to 66.6. Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3 245/40/18. Caps are cheap ones from ebay. Looking forward to some snow now!

That water blue color is AMAZING. Love the wheels too, look like S-Line wheels.

A couple more quick pictures. I just have my window tints done yesterday. 35% all around. I am now down with the mods for now...until I either buy or find someone local with a VAG tool.

I think most of the spray occurs at the bottom right after the front wheel openings (just in front of the stock stone guard). That is the location that gets dirt & spray on my S4.

I know a number of you guys probably have this already, but if anyone is looking for a nice way to store your off-season tires in the garage, I highly recommend the garage storage rack from tirerack.com. It is very well built, extremely sturdy, holds a claimed 600lbs and is pretty easy to install. Tire Rack sells them for $130 + shipping. The only hard part is hoisting the giant 19" wheels/tires up on to the rack!

That tire rack looks awesome. I just had some all seasons put on, and might grab that to store my summer tires. Cool!
