Pics of my winter wheels and tires.
I just had these installed yesterday. I will post more pics when I get them installed on my car...around beginning of December.
These are 18" VMR 708's and the tires are 245/40 Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3's.
I went with the 18's for 2 main reasons...better winter tire selection (where I ended up with the same tire as what I could have purchased in 19" size...I will explain in the next paragraph). The other benefit for me on the 18's were the slightly narrower tire for winter driving. IMO the 245 vs 255 is such a smaller difference I don't think it will matter much...if anything it is a incremental difference.
I purchased the 18" wheels from VMR...they were not supposed to be in until November. I was in constant contact with those guys and they knew how badly I wanted that rim. The accidentally receive a small supply of the 708's in my size and I got a call. Without talking to me they put my name on them to hold them until I was able to call back. So a few days later I had my 18" rims.
There was a much larger winter tire selection for the 18's vs 19's and I chose the Michelin X-ice winter tires. I placed my order for the Michelins after I saw they were offering the typical September discount at tire rack. Then 3 weeks later I get a call from Tire rack saying Michelin has decided not to manufacture the X-ice tires in my size...245/40 18. So now I have 18" rims and my second choice for winter tires were the PA3's.
Anyway...I will post more pics when I get these rims installed on the car. They will never look as clean as they do now...so I thought this was a great time to post some pics.
p.s...the dog in the picture is Hagar. We have a second Lab named Sammy. I'm literally the biggest Sammy Hagar fan out there and my addiction to his music is a giveaway in my dogs names...I'm contantly in the back yard yelling..."Sammy" "Hagar" get in the house!!!! The neighbors love me!

Very nice! I agree also with the 18's not to mention that you have a smaller contact patch and more traction with 18's as well as winter 18's are a LOT cheaper than 19's.

Those VMRs will look great. I went with an all TR package, Elbrus I02s and 225/45-18 X Ice Xi2s. I wanted a little more sidewall height for the spring pothole season. Price was around $1350 delivered with a $70 rebate by mail.

I notice in your initial pics you have audi center caps on them. Did you get those separately? I have the prestige 19" rims and I thought I read those audi centercaps won't fit the VMR 18" rims.
I tried to have nearly the exact setup as you but could get no commitment from VMR on when 708s would be available again. I even missed my chance as I took 5min too long to call back apparently! So I ended up with 710s instead.

If you place the order online, please refer to the forum in the 'previous contact' blank towards the end of the order. This way I can get the forum credit for the sale. See my signature for more details. Thanks!
