Default Recurring fixes?

Hey everyone. As I am looking for a used S4 I check the car faxes on all the cars. On a number I keep seeing the same fixes. Weatherstripping adjustment, Trim adjustment, and thermostat replacement. I've seen a few cars with all three listed multiple times. Anyone have issues with these?

Almost all 2010 and 2011 S4 had faulty water pumps and T stats that needed replacement. Neither of my 2 S4s had/has a trim or weather-stripping issues, but some others have. Many, including myself, have had brake squeal problems. All cars have problems indigenous to the model. The problems with the S4s have been relatively few and minor. In fact, my S4s have had fewer problems than my wife's Is 250 and my previous 335i.

To add to what DrGP said, there was a thermostat recall on all 2010 and 2011 S4s...most of us have had them replaced. There was also a recall on all 2010 and early 2011 S4s to replace out the plastic water pump. This is probably why you are seeing it come up on most carfaxes.

BTW...I personally haven't had an issue with weatherstripping or trim.

I would also agree with DrGP...this S4 has been surprisingly reliable and problem free...more than my '07 TL-S.

Also very desirable in the used car market and holding its value surprisingly well. That did not used to be the case with Audis. But there is a new perception of the quality and reliability and desirability of Audis. I see many more on the road as compared to 10 yrs ago. Perhaps at the expense of BMW/MB??

I have a 2011 and haven't had any of those repairs done. My build date was February 2011... 89000km on the car.

Okay, then those thermostats I see are probably the recall. Good to know, thank you.
I am finding pretty good deals. Can't figure if I want very low miles for mid $40s or in-the-middle miles (50-60k) for mid $30s.

If you search the forums I'm pretty sure people have posted the VIN ranges that are impacted by those issues. Might be useful to have when looking at used cars

Happy searching! You'll love the car once you get it

My 2011 has a build date of 4/15/2011, now with about 31k mi. Did not have the plastic water pump or the thermostat. No problems with trim or seals. Aside from a clicking clutch pedal that was repaired per TSB, the car has been trouble free.
