Default S4 6MT vs G37x

OK so I was just driving home from work and a G37x sedan proceeds to race me, I don't know if it was just me but we were pretty much neck and neck, almost to close to call bc of upcoming traffic. I'm actually pissed bc he caught me off guard and I was in auto mode not dynamic. I thought it would be no comparison but i was wrong WTF!! lol....Infiniti's are a cheap way to get power, doesn't beat german engineering in the long run.

My previosu car was an Infiniti G37xS sedan. People were often surprised at how quick it was. The only weak spot of the engine was that it could use a bit more torque.

It was a really nice car and I really liked it. I would have gotten another one but it's still unchanged for 2013 and I really didn't want to get the same car again.

The TL SH-AWD and G37 are great cars. Might not have the same refinement of the German cars but mechanically they are just as good imo. They are always overlooked by car magazines because they may not be the "best" in segment but they can do 9/10ths of what the winner in the segment can do but at a lower price.

The G37x is good for 0-60 in about 5.5 seconds, only about a second slower than a S4 6MT. If he got the jump on you and you didn't have the throttle response you would have in dynamic mode, that would easily explain a race that was too close to call.

If you had a proper launch in dynamic, it wouldn't really be close at all (maybe 5-6 car lengths difference by 60mph).

yes I think that was it, I mean my manual driving skills arent top notch thats why I said it might have been me, but he did get the jump off the line bc I wasnt in dynamic. I made up that difference but enough top end to take him by that much.

So that being said, I have about 1100 miles on the car and I just didn't think it was smart to dump the clutch at high RPM's from the start. Im sure that can't be healthy for the car right? and ESP was on, I'm guessing it would have to be off so I don't lose power bc of traction loss.

Being caught off guard makes a huge difference. If they're already in full acceleration before you notice them, and still manage to keep up, then you would have been ahead had it been fair. It's almost not even worth playing if you're not ready, just let the guy go.
