Stock rims vs non-expensive aftermarket - strength, performance
I don't dislike peelers, but I wanted to see if I can pickup a set of aftermarkets without having to pay much over what I can get for a set of brand new tri-spokes as there are a quite a few designs out there that I prefer to tri-spokes.
So my concern was that I could be giving up strength, performance, longevity with a switch if I go for something like VMR, TSW, Hartmann or MRR.
Based on the responses I got so far it doesn't seem that is the case as lots of people here are running VMR and Hartmann and are happy with them.
Does anyone have experience with MRR?
Also, does anyone here want my brand new peelers (the car is still sitting on a lot and will not be picked up for another two weeks)?

VMR is a very reputable Rep company, I trust their wheels and my sons friend just bought a set, they fit, car doesn't vibrate, he is very happy with them. (But I wouldn't put VMR's on a new S4 but that's just me)
Had a set of BBS CH (Cast) used 2 years, no issues, very nice wheel.
Although I bought all my BBS wheels and snow set ups from Tirerack for nicer selection I have found Vivid Racing to have the best selection with pricing for everything so you can search wheels in your price range, this is where I ordered my Advan RZ's from
Then again, maybe I should just stick with peelers and save up for a better wheel and get them for next season.
I think most people will agree that choosing an aftermarket wheel is probably one of the toughest decision when it comes to modifications. Simply due to selection that's out there. Drives me nuts.
. Although there is nothing wrong with VMR's, becasue of the weight I don't see any advantage in changing stock to VMR. IMO stock is actually a better wheel than VMR but Advans/Volk/BBS/Vorsteiner are a better wheel than stock.
If I'm changing wheels I want a performance improvement otherwise I would rather not bother... (Winter set ups excluded)
If you want to have a stroke check out the price of 20" Vorsteiner monoblocks...
Thanks for your input. The price range I'm going for is VMR to about $400 per wheel, but not quite BBS CH.

I would rather save for something nice than just change for the sake of change. As I said I think the OEM 19's are a great looking wheel and I almost just went with them.
Just my opinion but to me VMR's are a step down from the OEM 19's
I'm not cheap, or I wouldn't be driving an S4 in the first place, but I just don't understand spending $2500 (or WAY more) on a set of STREET wheels.
To each his own, though.

Some 24 lb forged wheels + 24 lb Michelin PS2s will feel like getting tuned. First gear will just fly by.
Remember the bump voltron got when he went from his 20" wheels to some forged 19" BBS wheels with Michelins? I think he found 2 tenths at the dragstrip.

Personally I like the look of gun metal grey vs these, and was considering either buying a set of replica rims like MSR's or other make which in Canada would be around $170ish a tire.
But I could also have these rims refinished in gun metal grey by a pro shop for $145 per tire.
So I too was wondering what made OEM rims better. Do they typically weigh much less than replicas?
