Default Strange sound while downshifting from 5th to 4th, DSG

Hey guys, New to this forum. I just purchased a 2010 S4 with 80k with a DSG transmission.

I’ve only driven the car maybe 30miles or so and notice when coming to a stop I hear a strange, very faint sound when it downshifts from 5th to 4th. It’s like a weird scraping or grinding sound.

I’ve been reading threads for the last two days about DSG failures. I’ve also read about the burping, fart sounds that the DSG makes. It only does it under heavy acceleration and always does it while it downshifts. I can switch over to manual gear shift and shift up and down from 5th to 4th and it does it every time.

I read one thread where someone had the same issue (4th to 5th noise) and had the trans replaced.

I didn’t notice this sound while test driving the car and I bought it AS IS from a private seller. I’m really paranoid now about driving the car and hoping someone here can give me some advice.

Is my trans on its way out?
