Wheel Advice
#21
As long as your wheel doesn't pass your fender it doesn't make a difference. I ran 19x8.5 ET 28 (Peelers with 15mm spacers) all summer without any issue. I was also lowered on OE Springs.

Yes bbs is known for quality, ive owned wheels from them before.
Yes, I weighed them and are within advertised spec.
Unless you are racing them, realistically, any of the mentioned knock off brands are just fine for street use. (The bbs chr's are not race wheels, as defined by themselves)
I've spent tons of money on rims before, and wished I didn't, as I get bored with them after a couple years. So going "cheaper" with tsw knock offs was my reasoning.
Happy hunting.
P.s. tires are more important :-)

The wheels will fling mud and dirt on the outside fender, even if the wheel is less than flush. The further recessed the wheels are, the less splash occurs.

Huh?
Let me try this again. If I get 35mm offset it is mfg spec. If I go to 40mm it sticks out past the wheel well more or less?

35mm = stick out more = more crud flying off the sidewalls
Stock is ET47? I think, and is much more tucked into the wheel well.

ET 40, and ET 35 are both going to stick out more than stock.... As I said before ET 35mm is 8mm WIDER (more aggressive stance) than stock. ET 40 is only 3mm more aggressive.
Stock 19's are 8.5" wide and ET 43.. Trust me.
As soon as you change the rim width there is more to consider, but if you are getting an 8.5" wide rim thats all you need to know.
if you went 19 x 9.5", and had the same stock offset of 43 your rim would be 12.7mm more aggressive since it's 1" wider. That means 1/2" on either of centre = 12.7mm more aggressive. I run 19x9.5 ET 42 in summer.
a 19 x 9.5" ET 45 wheel (very common size) is 2.7mm more aggressive (wider stance) than a 19 x 8.5" ET 35 wheel.
19 x 8.5" ET 35 = Average stance, and doesn't look stupid.

The oem stock B8 S4 18x8.0 wheel has an ET = 47mm. My current wheels are 18x8.5 with ET38, which puts the outside edge further out by 15mm (0.59 inch).
The oem stock B8 S4 19x8.5 wheel offset is apparently 43mm (previous post)
This wheel offset calcultaor is great; http://www.1010tires.com/About/Tools...set-Calculator

Okay stupid avoidance technique for 19"s gotcha. Need all the help I can get...you saw my choice of clothes in my first day of ownership shot.
Seems 35 - 40 mm safe range. 35mm best set up.
Funny, I can recall multiple ip ranges and configure a router from memory, but can't wrap my head around the tire thing. Thanks,
EE
