Recall 91DZ - Rearview Camera Software (2021 & 2022 MY)
This popped up in the myAudi app.. Apparently a bug where reverse pops up a blank screen instead of the camera.. I have not experienced this on my 21 S4. Recall is mostly 2021 model years and a handfull of 2022s - various models.

This popped up in my MyAudi app as well yesterday for my 2021 e-tron. I've never had a blank screen while backing up. Plenty of blank screens trying to use wireless CarPlay. I guess that is unrelated, tho.

The MMI and everything associated with it has been terrible since day 1 of ownership (2021 Q8 prestige). Audi owner since 2002. Long list of various models. Bad enough that my 5 series was replaced with a BMW M440i x-drive convertible, despite the terrible looking grill. (5 series only had 7,000 miles on it…..just wanted something new…..MMI on it, a 2019, was fine). Technology on BMW is far superior to Audi. Still have the Q8 and its a surprise every morning as to what the screen will say/do. In all fairness, I’ve never had a blank screen, but at times that would have been more helpful than what was on the screen.
btw, signature is out of date. S5 is gone, now have the Q8

Just a follow-up -- I had this recall done on 1/9.. They had to keep my car an extra day.. I never had the issue with the backup camera not appearing - but one new benefit of the new software is that wireless CarPlay now seems to initialize much faster and show up after starting the car.. Additionally -- after the recall, now the error message in the myAudi app that always told me I had to link the car to the app by signing in to the MMI has gone away.

Thanks for the follow up on this, RickNY. For some reason they forgot to take care of this recall at my 20k service in November but it sounds like it’s well worth doing. I’ll schedule it up now after hearing the benefits!

Would definitely advise asking for a loaner in case your dealership doesn't automatically give you one.. The software update has been taking 4-5 hours for many cars, and if they dont get your car in first thing in the morning, they'll need to keep it longer like they did mine.

I had this recall done in December when I took my 2021 car in for the second oil change. I made my appointment for scheduled service for a Friday AM (not knowing anything about the recall), expecting to get my car back by the end of the day. I didn't get my car back until late Tuesday due to the camera recall. Thankfully Audi Pacific in Torrance, CA gave me a Q5 loaner for the entire period.
