"Safest" chip... (flame suit on)

Yes, there are some guys that have gone to 50,000 miles without turbos going BOOM!!, but....
That is ONLY 50,000 miles. Think they will make it to 100,000?
The K03's simply were not designed to take 1+ bar of boost. If your going to chip, you have to expect your turbos to blow.

BS
It increases the probability, I would say.
But there are people who have 60K miles now on S4's (and more on A4's) with a chip, and with no problems. And there are people with 1000 miles on an un-chipped S4 with blown turbos. So it's NO guarantee.

One of the most ignorant statements I've ever seen on this board!
And your conclusive evidence? Even the turbo survay's don't show chips as definitive proof of chips causing turbos to blow.
I, along with many others, have over 20K on chips, with many track and drag strip day, without a problem.
That was a truly ignorant blanket statement!

Why wouldn't they?
I think if they're going strong for 50K, they're probably good and should make it to 100K.
I don't believe there's really cumulative wear which builds up faster... I think failure is usually catastrophic.

Turbos have a limited lifespan. *ALL* turbos will blow eventually.
And chipping *absolutely* increases stress on the turbo, making it happen faster.
The *only* issue is if chipping affects turbo life enough to expect that turbos would fail before the warranty period is out. People here say no, Audi says yes.
Generally, Audi wins.
