Don, remember: My avg may have been 120 but I had stopped several times...
At one point I remeber at least 60 minutes straight WOT.
176 mph or so the entire hour.
Every time I came near a car I slowed down to 100 which felt very slow.
through the mountain pass I still managed to keep it above 100 most of the way. But due to the corners and such I had to slow down at times.
Its the 170+ top speed that made that time so short. Any other car in my opinion would be a step down for this kind of driving.
Sure there are faster cars but I had just the right amount of power/ fuel mileage to pull it off.
A 170 mph car that will run 150 miles on a tank will do better than a 200 mph car that get 60 miles to a tank!
The Euro 928S was made to run at these speeds for a long time periods.
It felt like a rock at 170. You could simply take your hands off the wheel and relax to some Jazz..
I seem to remember the tank help 26 gallons of fuel.
I know I filled up at least 3 times so thats almost 80 gallons.
But I did not use the entire 26 gallons each time. If I saw an easy to get to station I used it.
so I burned in the area of 65 gallons in 411 miles!
So that works out to be around 6 mpg.
figure between 5.5 and 7.5 and you would be close.

I had a friend who thought he could afford the points on his license for one ticket
He was on his way home to Half Moon Bay on Hwy 92 and saw a ambulance pass him - He figured he would tailgate him home as the ambulance would clear the road. His 911 had the plates with the name PHAAST.
As he was motoring along at 80 plus he saw someone behind him who he thought had the same idea - untill the lights came on.
Three tickets - speeding, following an emergency vehicle, carless and reckless.

I was stopped last year on Rt 66 in Az going from LV to Sedona in a rental Diamante at 105.
Got off with a warning. Better luck than I had in Vegas. :-)<p>John
