Default @#%^*! Bentley CD--

Guys:

I sold my Bentley service CD to another Audi guy, but he can't install it on his XP-equipped PC. He is getting hung up on a prompt to designate an Internet Browser, and none of the options he punches in are accepted. What is he doing wrong? Is there a need to re-register the CD with Bentley once it moves to another PC? Sorry if this has been asked before, STFA...

Default I'm not sure you can re-register, but yes you absolutely have to contact Bentley

... assuming the manual is legal.

Default he has to contact Bentley Publishers

I had a similar problem, I reformat&reinstalled XP on my pc, I was not able to reinstall/register my Bentley CD. I had to call BP to get a new id.

I know it's a pain, the software connects to the internet to verify auhenticity.

With the new version(upgrade) you can copy the whole content of the CD to your HD, no need to insert the cd anymore.<ul><li><a href="http://www.bentleypublishers.com/contact.us.htm">Bentley Publishers</a></li></ul>

Default Yup...

Been beating on the car for two months--doing an RS+ conversion, sort of like the white car (which is sold). I will miss the Sebring race, but plan to do some DEs early in the year to get used to the car. Should be pretty cool when it's done...

Default There were seven GT3 at the track this past weekend at Laguna

I felt like I was at a GT3 convention or something. Have fun this year Lee.

Default I just did this, when I rebooted my laptop.....

what ever laptop it came off of, has to be properly removed, and a code will be provided. Then, the new computer has to be loaded up, and it'll get to a point where he'll need to call bentley, and provide the serial #, key code, and de-activation code, or something, and then they'll provide him with the key he needs.

FWIW, mine's on xp and worked fine. Not sure what his issue is, why it's not working.

Default First version doesn't work on XP. Call Bentley, they will swap it

for the new version. The customer service is great but they protect this product more heavily than I think they should for a $100 niche piece of software. It's like you're buying a $5000 CAD package or something.

Then again VAG-COM licensing has gotten pretty restrictive too. If my system crashes again (ie. I can't get the uninstall code) and I need to reinstall on a new system I'm toast. No more keys. I'm supposed to buy this new dongle adapter. We'll see. When the time comes I'll be looking at alternatives too.

Default Nice!

let me know when you're done. I'd love to see it. What color did you get? Are you going to club race it? I should be out there (club race) this year. only problem is since I have those turbo brakes I'll be getting slaughtered in B rather than just getting plain beat in C stock. I figure for the 1st year or two I won't be competitive anyway so i might as well just get the experience.
