01 S4 Avant alt belt replacement DIY
replacing alt belt on 01 S4 Avant, anyone BTDT? Tools and things to look out for would be helpful. How to release belt tensioner, should I replace it also and such. Thanks Quattrofans<ul><li><a href="http://quattrofans@aol.com">http://quattrofans@aol.com</a</li></ul>

If you pull the lock carrier into the service position, and remove the intake pipes...
the tensioner is right there. Releasing it is nothing more than putting an adjustable wrench on it and turning it. Replacing it is optional. It will go eventually. If you think it's too much of a PITA to get to it, remove the three bolts holding it in, and swap out the tensioner. If you think it's easy enough to go back if it starts making noise, postpone it's replacement until it actually fails.
