Default Well, I never played with tire pressures at the strip....but from others I've talked to that....

run good times...the thought is that if you run high pressures (i.e. 44psi), you decrease the rolling friction, which in theory should help on the big end because you do have less contact patch on the ground which means less drag. The con to this is it could hurt your launch because of less contact patch. With our cars being AWD, it shouldn't hurt us as much since lack of traction isn't really an issue. It would be nice to have someone experiment with different tire pressures and see what their times do....I'm just not willing to volunteer.

Default Thank you Sir

I take it then you do not side step the clutch, but rather play with the clutch and gas.

I use about 42-43 psi at the strip.

Default Yes, that basically it. No sidestepping for me.

I guess it's kind of like launching a rear wheel drive car, but at a higher rpm. As I'm letting the clutch out, I give the car just enough gas to keep the rpms in that 3500-3800 rpm area. Once the car starts picking up momentum and boost starts to build.....it's floor it and release.

Default I run low 30's like 32 or so, I want ultimate grip, I don't care about the .321123432424243243 mph

I gain from over inflated tires.

lower tire pressure means more contact (grip) with ground. mid to low 30's

Default Yes but with quattro you're not exactly losing time spinning the tires.

An overinflated tire will be able to roll easier than an underinflated tire. For FWD and FWD cars, yes you are correct, but not in our cars that don't make too much power and have quattro. Try overinflating your tires next time, I know I got MUCH better 60' times when I started doing it.
