18 x 8 (245/40/18 tires) wheels will clear a stock 2001 S4 suspension?
Just wondering if anyone can recall if a 18 x 8 (245/40/18 tires) wheels will clear a stock 2001 S4 suspension?
The wheels are the Audi Ultrasport RS4 wheels. And, is there a way to tell the original vs the replicas? (i.e. markings on the inside?)
Thanks in advance...

you'll need at least 8mm spacers in the front to clear the brakes. I would recommend just running 10mm spacers all the way around to just keep it all even. As far as fake wheels Vs the real deal. Most audi factory wheels say made in germany on the inside of the spoke and also have the rings stamped in somewhere, the B6 S4 wheels I have, have ronal stamped in which is the company that made the wheels for audi. you might not see any of this until you get them really clean.

You may only need spacers if the offset is wrong for size/shape of the wheel you are fitting. I run 8.5 with wheels without any spacer because I made up for it in the offset. If you're not sure what the offset is, the best way to tell is just jack up the car and slap one on to see how everything sits.

I just put the RS4 sport reps on mine but I went with a 235/40/18 tire. I also installed the ECS stage IV bbk and I only needed 5mm to clear those front brakes.
Clearing the suspension is not really a problem - the main concerns are the spokes clearing the front brakes and the potential of the tires rubbing on the fenders as you increase the width. It's hard to tell what issue you will run into until you try to mount them up. I stacked up some washers to mimic a spacer and then added to the stack until I got the proper clearance - it's a bit....uh...unprofessional, but it worked.
If you rub the fenders then you'll have to roll them. There is a write-up on how to do this in the tech-section somewhere.

hehe - I have pics, but you need to specify what I have to prove: that I installed the bbk, cleared with 5mm spacers or used the washers to gauge the thickness I would need?

A pic of the front right side with the new brakes installed. Right now it is held on by 3 bolts passing through 2 washers (about 2.5-3mm each) then the rotor and finally to the axle. I don't know how I should get an shot of the washers though but that's how I did it...
