2 Questions (on upgrading to K04 & on APR chip)
1) I'm not planning on this move (yet) but wanted to get peoples' opinions.
I have APR's 91 chip (with exhaust and F-hose, diverter valves, ect) and so far the K03s are fine.
Am I correct in thinking that the K04s require dedicated software? Can they run on the stock ECU?
So the question is: if the 03 go, do I, as many suggest, upgrade? If I do't want to spend the $$ on K04 software, is the trade off worthwhile? That is, is it better to spend the $ on the K04, but use the stock software (and therefore not APR chip that I bought) or is it better to get new K03s so that I can continue to make use of the investment in the APR chip?
I probably won't do DP. Does that change the calculus?
opinions and reasons welcome.
2) I got the APR chip a few months--what fun--ago with no noticeable problems. The check engine light goes on (and off occasionally) when I am in 91 octane mode, but when put back to stock spoftware, the light will go off, and stay off.
Any ideas? Should I be worried? I haven't yet called APR, but will probably do so soon.
Thanks, Kevin

Kevin, you back from Hawaii?
How come you have the 91 octane program? 93 is the standard here. You free on Saturday? A few of us are meeting for lunch in Columbia i think. Some people that can answer your questions will be there too. e-mail me.
You shouldn't be getting the CEL either. let's VAG your car if you come out.

Re: Kevin, you back from Hawaii?--> Nope
KJ & Ed
Nope,
I am working here for 4+ weeks, with about 3 left--yeah, its tough. Apparently I am missing some really great springtime weather... I'll be back in early May and will email you then (and take you up on the VAG)
I got the 91 because it was "safer." (have car, will travel) In hindsight, I'd probably go 93. I take solace in believeing (right or not) that the big jump is the stock to not stock, vs. the 91 to 93 program. I promise on my next turbo charged car I'll be more daring.
