2000/early01 silver S4 in Mammoth parking lot yesterday, anyone here? (and a short review)
I have never seen two back-to-back ski days so different in quite some time. Yesterday: About 2' of fresh powder, sunshine, and no wind with temps in the 20's! Absolutely epic! Today: 40+ mph winds, blowing snow, no visibility, upper half of the mountain closed, etc. In other words, it sucked hard! Oh well, one bad day to go with one good day (actually closer to a half day because I took a chunk out of my skis and had to go get them fixed). I can't really complain for early December!

NO WAY. Those are the best days...
..because the whiners who can't handle a bit of wind+snow are holed up in the lodge while I go plunder the goods.
On bluebird days crap gets tracked up so fast its sad.
BTW. I will be in mammoth again this weekend. See you there.

Sure you can! You just need to know where to go.
... I have a list of sekret spots to go to when the upper mountain is closed Minimal to no hiking, just the odd counter-intuitive traverse. You would be suprised how much good terrain is on the lower mountain, and how long it stays untracked when the upper lifts are closed. You might be suprised where some of these stashes are
