Default 20K miles on 2001 and TBB is perfect..

It's hard to believe that these things rip, I have the updated one (was on car from factory 10/00 build) these are pretty damn thick!! It's not like a cheap piece of rubber, w0w, even a clamp would have to cut into quite a bit of rubber to cause a tear..

No oil anywhere, nice and clean..

Default You are not driving hard enough.. ;-) I did not have a problem until the heat of summer

So the underhood temps were nice and warm, and the intercoolers were only feeding on 90+ air. It's a thick piece of rubber, but becomes very soft when it gets hot.

Default I have the same build date, and checked my TBB at 20K miles and it was fine.

Mybe I don't drive hard enough? My wife would disagree. I have an AMS Kevlar wrapped, but decided to leave the stock one in.

My updated boot lasted 18.5K and failed on a 100 degree day with a 3" tear!

Default i am in the same boat just with less miles...

i had taken my car over to GRD, and tuan looked at my TBB too. even though i dont drive my car anywhere near hard, the y-part of the TBB was coming off a bit. i assume this was due to boost (and driver can feel it, cause the car just wasnt as smooth when pushed hard, slight hesitations here and there during near or full WOT).

so we unclamped a bit, pushed it back in, and now the car runs back to smmmmooooooth! =) i guess i will keep my eye on it every few weeks to make sure its all good up in there....

Default So we are thinking external temps mixed with hard driving (higher then normal intern temps)

Causing the BPV to tear? That has to be some damn hot stuff, this is thick rubber!!!
