3 Attempted Thefts - North Jersey
NJ S4 owners - look out!
Two attempted S4s plus one A8 theft occurred late this this afternoon in my company's (large) parking lot. Our security budget has some serious issues, so the theives have taken advantage of that, I guess.
This is the 2nd time for mine. The last attempt was in December '02 and that was > 2K damage. This time, it looks worse. Aside from the door hold, steering column, and key cylinder, they also broke the windshield when they bent the (useless) "Ultra" club to get it off of the steering wheel. It looks like they had some torx tools to try to get my headlights, but they must've not been the right size. They left them on the seat.
Various security features (I don't want to mention them here) were employed that saved the S4s from being destroyed from these a-holes. The A8 has the immobilizer and it appears that they didn't know that. They were able to get finger prints off the B-pillar and also from the club.
There could've been more, but guess we'll wait and see tomorrow.
Oh well, there goes another $500 deductible + extra rental car taxes. Arrrrgghhh....
Forget about snow tires - there should be a class action law suit against Audi for: 1. making it incredibly easy to break in, and 2. for installing Immobilizers on VWs and not in Audis in the same model year. I might to try to see if the Club folks will pay my deductible since they destroyed the wheel and air bag to rip the Club off.
Time to get a beater car to drive to work.

We got fairly close to getting these guys today if our security didn't suck...
I saw their car leaving after attempting S4 #2. I was too far to see the plates, but let our secuirty know promptly and provided a description of ther car. Our company security didn't seem to know how to call the local police from the parking lot so they blew it.
If I was 20 seconds earlier I would have loved to beat the crap out of one of them (and hope I didn't get killed in the process)
