Default A4 PES T-28 DBW Dyno run- for those interested

I took my car down to GIAC to get dynoed this week and met up with Tony and Jeremy from PES, Garrett Lim & Andrew (GIAC), and Todd Zuccone from EVO. Great bunch of guys! Anyhow, I installed a Greddy Profec B boost controller at the request of Tony and we dynoed the car. I was a little reluctant to add the boost controller, but the ability to adjust wastegate bleed, on demand boost control and taking out the slower reacting N75 valve showed a lot of improvement in turbo response as well as very consistent boost pressure. The dyno numbers, photos, videos and graphs will be available on Europeanspeed.com shortly but here is a VERY short skinny. Ok just as a point of reference, a 2002 stock 170 hp 1.8T dynoed 139 to the wheels and with a correction factor of 23% it comes out to 170.97 hp to the cranks. Ok now the fun stuff.

With Garrett and Tony at the helm, they tweaked the software ending up at 231 horses to the WHEELS or a corrected factor @ a VERY conservative 20% (drivetrain loss)= 277.2 or 23%= 284hp with 1.2 Bar ( roughly 17-18psi) on 91 oct! . Now if you get 93 oct, you will be closer to 295ish I'd suspect using 23% correction. We then threw the "sauce in" 2 gals of 100 oct/5 gals 104 oct in a quarter tank of 91 octane. At 1.4 bar my car put down an amazing 255 hp to the wheels or a corrected factor @20%= 306 or 23% that is 313hp- WHOA! The car is an absolute rocket with racefuel. The software is extremely smooth with no hiccups whatsoever. I will also be getting the IBE switch sometime next week to utilize both programs. This software will be availabe for DBW 2000 and they were tweaking the 2001 software when i left.

Some other interesting T-28 info is the 2002 B6. A completely stock B6 avant with the PES T-28, put down 215 or 217 (can't remember which) to the wheels or a corrected factor at 23%= 264.45 crank hp. As a note the B6 did NOT require any other fuels mods other than Injectors.I should add they were still tweaking this program, so i dont know what the final numbers are.

2002 kit in car. The owner placed in the intake filter under the headlight assembly which is why you don't see it here. But you can see the "red" which is the back of the filter.

Default Hmm... those numbers are nowhere near impressive for a T28 - I would think at the very least

you would put down 315WHP on race gas. Those turbo's, if tuned for correctly are beasts. That looks very anemic, especially for the boost its running. Have you done some intake work? You might want to check that out, because a T28 @ 1.4bar of boost should make WAY more than 255WHP, even on a 1.8L - FWIW, my buddies 2.0L(DSM) does 317WHP on pump gas.

Default I have spoken to a turbo manufacturer about that turbo and it is very efficient to 300-330. It will

go higher, but with higher discharge temps and geometrically higher turbine vs intake pressure imbalance.

Default I guess it depends on which trim PES is using, because the T28s generally flow 600-620CFM

which is enough for 400-420hp (depending on other tweaks.) If they're using a small T28, I guess thats closer.

Default I don't expect you to be impressed but considering

what a S4 puts down to the wheels I'd think you wouldn't be so negative about 255whp on an A4. Oh well...

S4 WHP

Default Dunno, I put 277, 331lbs/ft to the wheels with just an MTM chip on 93 octane <shrug>.

I was just expecting more from the T28 kit, that's all.

Granted different day, dyno, etc. What kind of dyno was this done on? Mine was done on a Mustang Dynometer.
