According to that audiworld turbo article... Euro S4's have more hp and way more torque... why?

All U.S. Audis requiring premium fuel are tuned for 91...
...since that is the lowest common minimum octane rating prevalent in the US. In Europe, they have a widely accepted 98 RON standard that works out more closely to 93 R+M/2 so that's what they're tuned for over there.

The minimum fuel requirements for Audis (and most other US luxury/performance cars) is 91 octane.
Likely due to the fact that in some areas (CA, for example) 91 is the highest available octane.
