I am not so sure if to believe him as he had the oil amount wrong: He said these cars take 5.6 and we probably put the full 6 Q.
This was part of a conversation I had with him when I stopped at Sewickley Audi to let them know they overfilled my oil to which the service rep. said 'that's not possible' or some other remark not believing what I was saying.
He came out and checked it himself and then went on to say how much oil they took (which was wrong) and said they make them 'idiot-proof' and you can go +/- 2 Q. from suggested.
He also said if it was overfilled I would see lots of white smoke AND it would bring the check engine light.
What do you guys think??? I would agree on the white smoke and perhaps engine light but I believe he doesn't have his facts right about the rest of his story.......
And these are the people 'supposed' to know...sigh.

what a moron...
2 extra quarts? I don't think so...no way. By the way, our engines take 6.3 quarts per Audi's specs...I put 6.5-6.6 in my car last time and the dipstick showed the oil level right at the top of the hatching. (just depends on how long you let the oilpan drain I guess) Is your service writer mentally challenged? Either he's not relaying information correctly from the service area or they're really putting 5.6 quarts of oil in 2.7T's. Checked your dipstick lately? 5.6 isn't nearly enough.

It's 6.9qts (with filter change) per recent spec. And it says to be very careful not to overfill.
Overfilled oil may damage the catalytic converter/oxygen sensors. I usually pour in 7 qts quickly and the amount that sticks to the bottles is the other 0.1qts = 3.2oz.

Dealer overfilled my engine oil for my 30K service - any possible damages that I should be aware of?
