Default Advice needed for dealer botch job...

A certain dealer, while fixing my car, backed it up into a wall and put a nice hole in it. They admitted to causing damage and said would take care of it. They took it to someone who doesnt do real body work, but just sprays paint over the current paint and "supposedly looks good. I knew full well that it would suck. It did,I brought it back and he didnt repaint it, but just color sanded it. They color isnt even close. They refused to do anything else, stating it was above industry standard. He said the place I was bringing the car to do my repaint was a rip off, so I took it to another paint shop that charged even more. I paid for it myself, and now am debating what to do. Yes - everyone is going to say - make them pay for it....but I need

Default Have you talked to the owner of the dealership yet?

In most cases, they'd much rather pay to fix your car how you want it fixed than suffer negative publicity (e.g., taking them to small claims court). I wouldn't go in there threatening lawsuit, but just make sure that they are aware you're willing to go that far if it comes to it. Also, although calling AoA doesn't generally help much, it also can't hurt to get your complaint on record with them.

Default Hope you have photos of botched job

Your case stands on loss of value to your car caused by the damages / bad repair. I bet there are lots of body shops that would love to debate his "industry standard" good luck

He agreed to pay 1/2 - not good enough for me - no matter that we've bought 5 cars from the in 5 years

Default That sucks ...

especially if you've been that loyal a customer in the past. Small claims court then I guess. Hopefully you have pictures of the job that was done before you got it repainted yourself (or you can probably get a statement from your bodyshop you had as to the poor quality of the dealership paint job). Good luck.

Default This wasn't in Colorado, was it? My dealer did the same thing to me (m)

But I had the work done at the bodyshop of my choosing. (They wanted me to use their own shop which has a crappy reputation) They paid for all of the repairs, and provided a loaner car for me throughout the whole thing.
