Advice/Suggestions for buying a used S4...
There's a 2000 S4 for sale in my area for 12k.
96k on the odometer.
Looks like the guy did regular maintenance. Timing belt and water pump are done. Drives well and shifts smoothly. I didn't see any obvious "repairs" as if it had been in a collision. The title is supposedly clean.
Of course being used there are some issues with the car. The screen in the cluster is on it's way out. It also has some cosmetic damage. The bumpers looks like people used the car as a way to tell they've gone to far. Parking is tight in this area so it's understandable. This is a decent sized scrape on the side of the car.
If the car title checks out and nothing jumps out when I use the VAG COM. This is being sold by an owner who bought a new S4. Any words of wisdom or thoughts?
TIA

mileage?
i bought my A4 in the San Francisco area and it had similar bumper woes...
thankfully, a good detail removed most of the scuffs/scrapes and left only some visible damage... which I can live with.
if the VAG checks out and all the suspension stuff looks to be in good shape... hit.

my thoughts....
Actually I want mod my current s4. It only has 58k miles and so far *knock on wood* it's been good to me. I really like the B5 S4 and so I wouldn't mind another one. If i'd been higher than 12k I probably wouldn't even be considering it.
It's a second car, if it breaks I can take my time fixing it. Having a second car will allow me to have more time working on my current car without having to rush because I gotta drive to work.
